Patch for the visible coverage of existing dangerous goods placards. 
The BOXLAB Blackout Patch has been developed for the fast, safe and practical coverage of invalid or no longer required dangerous goods placards. In daily transport and logistics operations, removing existing placards is often time-consuming, involves a risk of injury or is not feasible due to operational constraints or missing tools. The Blackout Patch provides an efficient alternative and allows the immediate deactivation of existing markings by simply covering them.

Dimensions and coverage

With its format of 310x310 mm, the BOXLAB Blackout Patch is specifically designed to fully cover standard dangerous goods placards in the 250x250 mm format. The oversized design ensures complete and reliable coverage of the underlying placard, even in cases of slight misalignment or on uneven surfaces.

The Blackout Patch is also suitable for covering larger placards up to 300x300 mm, as occasionally used by other suppliers. In this case, the placard is still covered, with a small edge overlap of approx. 5 mm per side.
Note: This larger placard formats are not legally required and are not necessary in practice.

Material

The Blackout Patch is made from an opaque black material that is extremely weather-resistant as well as oil- and dirt-repellent. It is suitable for permanent outdoor use and reliably adapts to curved surfaces thanks to its high flexibility. The black surface effectively prevents the underlying placard from showing through and ensures a clear, visible coverage.

Like all BOXLAB large-format products, the Blackout Patch features a separate peel-off tab at the top edge. This tab remains secured to the backing paper via an integrated slit, while the patch itself retains its full dimensions. This enables easy, clean and safe application without impairing the adhesive strength.
The peel-off tab is branded with the BOXLAB logo and represents professional handling and consistently high quality.

Application:
The BOXLAB Blackout Patch is applied directly over the existing placard. Complete removal of the existing marking is not required. For optimal adhesion, appropriate surface cleaning is recommended. The oversized format ensures reliable and complete coverage of the existing placard.
